Festive Party Looks

Festive Party Looks

As we head into the holiday season of good cheer and many festive parties, we take a look at the best Christmas beauty and hair tips for those upcoming events.

Planning your outfit and accompanying hair and beauty styles can be almost as fun as the party itself! But if you're struggling for inspiration this year, why not take a look at our picks…

Bold Lips - A strong trend for the coming season, a bold lip never goes out of fashion. The popular choices at the moment are a purple berry, rose pink or a diva red. To complete this beauty look, opt for a neutral eyeshadow, long lashes and a feline eyeliner flick as a nod to the S/S '15 trends.

The Ponytail - The ponytail is well a truly back, but with a glam edge. Curl your locks and backcomb for a voluminous effect before sweeping up onto the top of your head. The curls will sweep down your back in a romantic fashion…gorgeous!

Smokey Eye - A modern classic, the smokey eye doesn't have to be difficult to achieve. Use a base to create a long lasting, intense finish before applying a grey or brown shadow in circular movements across the entire lid. Apply a darker shade along the hollow of the eyelid and then blend gently to get a smudgy effect. Use the darkest shade you desire on the outside of the lid, blending towards the inside until you create the effect you want. Finish with a generous amount of eyeliner on the lower lash line and add some mascara for wow-factor eyes.

Half up, Half Down - For an easy up do, just leave half down! Curl the front sections of your hair and leave them hanging loose, before pulling the rest into a chic chignon or low, messy bun! The choice is yours.

Now it's time to have fun at your work's Xmas party, a festive meet up with friends or a family get-together!

Top Tips for Healthy Winter Hair

Winter Hair Tips

It’s getting to that time of the year when we all want our hair to look its best for the upcoming festive celebrations, and as the days are getting chillier, it’s just as important to look after our hair as it is our skin. Here are some top tips for making sure your hair looks and feels it’s healthiest this winter.

1) Using a hair oil in the mid lengths and ends of your hair after each wash is a quick way of ensuring your hair gets all the nourishment it needs. As an added bonus, they can also be used after styling to add the final touch to your look.

2) Giving your hair a deep treatment once a week helps replenish the moisture lost due to extreme temperature changes. You can make your own by mashing together a banana, an egg and half an avocado before adding 2 tablespoons of honey and 3 of olive oil. Leave in for half an hour then rinse out and wash your hair as normal!

3) Whist leaving your hair to air dry naturally is ideal, sometimes we don’t have time before rushing out of the house. To keep damaged hair at bay, it’s a good idea to use a leave in conditioner before blow-drying and styling with heated appliances.

4) If you can bear it, switch to cool water for the final rinse after washing your hair as this closes the hair follicles and increases your hair’s natural shine.

5) Avoid washing your hair every day as over-washing, especially in the cold winter months, strips your hair of it’s natural oils.
